HOLOCAUST
6RRRR Summon Demon 12/12
Trample
Cumulative Upkeep: Sacrifice a mountain. Comes into play tapped.

The second of my series of "monstrous creatures", along with Abomination. All I wanted to do was create some large creatures in the spirit of the infamous Colussus - "with great power comes great responsibility", as they say. I particularly like the cumulative upkeep bit.

DRAGON FEAR
2R Instant
Tap all creatures of 2 toughness or less. These creatures do not untap as normal during their controller's next untap phase.

Card mechanics such as these aren't my forte. I never was very knowledgable of MtG's subtle timing issues, and I disliked cards that took advantage of the finer points of the game. I liked the brute force method of card creation - generally creatures with straightforward abilities, or Instants or Enchantments with obvious effects. How I got around to making this card, I have no idea.

THE EARTHBOUND
2R Summon Wizard 1/1
RT: Target flying creature loses flying and takes 2 damage.

Holy Hell, what a lame card. Nothing more than giving that red anti-flying instant (I can't remember that common card's name now!) to a creature as an innate ability. I recall almost erasing this card from my hard drive recently, but decided to keep it as a reminder of how not to make bogus cards :)

FIERY WRATH

I wanted to call this card "conflagration" or "immolation" or somesuch, but I later discovered that those had been taken. Oh well. Didn't really matter, as no solid card mechanic came to mind. Plenty of weak ideas, tho!

MAIDEN OF FLAME
R Summon Maiden 0/1
If Maiden of Flame dies, put a Phoenix token into play. Treat this token as a 2/3 flying red creature.

This card was created vert early in my career, and does it show. The cropping was especially bad, the text layout substandard, and the coloring all wrong. The card idea itself, however, isn't that bad. A cheap but slow method of getting a 2/3 creature on the board.

FAI SPHINX
1RRR Summon Sphinx 2/2
Flying
RT: Opponent names a card and then turns over the top card of his library. If it matches the named card, the card is put into the opponent's hand and Fai Sphinx is buried. Otherwise, the card is buried and Fai Sphinx gains a +1/+1 counter.

My selection of red cards is lousy, without a doubt. This card is absolutely horrible, and I don't know what I was thinking when I made it.
