Howdy!

Welcome to the first installment of slight's semi-regular articles concerning the goings-on and events surrounding the best handheld gaming system of all time, the game.com! Just in case you didn't know, I am slight and slight is me :) Let us begin, shall we?

First of all, about these articles. As proprietor of the COMPENDIUM, I constantly strive to present game.com-related news and info in as an objective manner as possible. My visitors have come to expect their info in pure form, not diluted by personal bias and opinion. I think I've managed to achieve this measure of objectivity, but at the cost of constantly reining in "slight the game.com fan" who just wants to jump in with the gang and have a good time. These articles are intended as a pressure release for the fun-loving slight, where I'll ease up on the restrictions and speak my mind a little more freely. The look of the articles is, of course, a tribute to "ole' man slight" and his restrained ways.

Our Com's In Jeopardy, Baby: Awhile back, Johnny of Johnny's game.com Headquarters shouted to the world that Jeopardy for the game.com was horribly defective. Not having acquired a copy of Jep, there wasn't much I could personally add to the subject. Whenever someone makes the claim of existence for X, then the burden of proof falls on the claimant. For example, if I state the Bigfoot or UFOs or elves exist, you are not responsible for proving that they don't - I'm liable for proving that they do! So, until some additional collaboration on the bugs was shown, it was quite possible that Johnny was the source of the alleged problems, and not the cart itself :)

As it turns out, apparently the Jep cart is defective. Tiger GCom recently posted to agvtg-c stating that it appears the source of the troubles is when Jep is plugged into a ClassiCom with another cartridge present in the 2nd port. Was Jep beta-tested with only the forthcoming gcpp in mind?

Keep an eye on the newsgroup for future revelations. Anyway, Johnny and the gang deserves some praise for coming forward with these bugs, and for braving the arrows that came their way. As for Tiger, a "boo! hiss!" for letting this one slip by! I guess they were thinking that, worse case, only the dozen or so folks who actually bought a ClassiCom would be affected :)
