"Enchanted Protective"
This spell enables the caster to imbue a type of protective magic, as per a ring of
protection, upon an item. The protection serves as a bonus to the bearer's AC and saving
throws. This bonus starts at +1, plus an additional +1 per four levels of the caster
beyond third level. Hence, a 3rd-6th level caster bestows +1, a 7th-10th level caster,
+2, and so forth. Typically protected items will be small charms such as rings, or body
armor or shields. The caster has the ability to divide up layers of protection upon multiple items. For
example, an 12th level caster may bestow +3 to one item, or +2 to one item and +1 to
another, or +1 to each of three different items. Protection is not cumulative with items
already possessing a protective enchantment. At 11th level, the caster can choose to have the enchanted item emit a protective aura
about itself, as per certain rare rings of protection. This aura covers a 10 foot
diameter sphere about the item. This aura only aids the saving throws of those within
(the bearer of the protected item still maintains the AC bonus). All of the bonus
(+3 or more) granted by the spell must be placed upon a single item for this to occur. The material components for this spell is a miniature silver shield. |
