Psychometabolic Devotion
A specialized variant of Dimensional Door, this power allows the psionicist to create a number of small, circular dimensional gateways. These portals act like miniature dimensional doors, with the added bonus of allowing partial transference (unlike dimensional door, this power allows one to stick just an arm thru the gate without experiencing pain, as well as poking your head thru without suffering unconsciousness). The psionicist can create up to 100 of these holes, with each being exactly 1 foot in diameter. Each portal corresponds to a another specific portal (hence, there will always an even number of gateways). Like dimensional door, these gateways are two-way portals. The "back side" of the portals correspond to the back side of their sister portal. The psionicist knows which portals correspond, with everyone else left to guessing... These miniature gateways can have any orientation of the psionicist’s choosing, and each portal may possess a different orientation than the rest. The psionicist can cause the portals to shift around, making it impossible for anyone besides himself to keep up with which portals lead where. Holes cannot be spaced together any closer than 1 hole per cubic foot due to inherent space-time warping limitations. All the portals must be in visible range of the psionicist, and within a 15 foot range. The boundaries of the portals are inky black - one cannot see what is on the other side of a portal just by looking thru it.
Some explanation. This power is right out of the comic books, and some of you might have seen a similar effect on the animated Spider-Man series. Recently there was some Spidey villain (the name... I don't recall) who could open up dimensional portals such as those from the Dimensional Door power, but had expanded upon the utility of the power. When fighting Spidey, he would open up dozens of these small portals around him and his foe, and proceed to pummel Spider-Man senseless from all directions. Our hero had quite a time defending against blows that could come from any direction! This, and similar effects from other comics-related areas, led to the Dimensional Holes power, a specialized form of the standard D. Door we're all familiar with. As you might note, the power's mechanics are complex enuf in themself that I had little room to explore what the power can really do. I'll leave this up to the imaginative player, but there are some basic functions that should readily come to mind:
More info than that, I'm not providing. This was a power deliberately left open for interpretation, so determine specifics as you will. |
