A psionicist using this power causes him to split at a cellular level, producing a bodily duplicate of himself (along with clothing, armor, and up to 20 pounds of equipment). Hit Points are divided equally among the two at time of creation. A System Shock roll must be made, with failure resulting in the power itself failing and the psionicist being rendered unconscious for 2d6 turns. This "clone" is a physical duplicate of the original psionicist, but with the original's mind controlling both. In essence, the psionicist's mind exists halfway in both bodies. Unlike Split Personality, there is only 1 functional mind with Cellular Fission - the psionicist cannot use 2 psionic powers per round just because he has two bodies! What the power does grant is an additional body for the psionicist to control. With this power, the psionicist could have 1 body using a psionic power while the other guards "himself", both bodies enter physical combat, etc. When the power is ended, the duplicate (and possessions) fade away, with the remaining Hit Point and PSPs of the duplicate returning to the original. If either dies, the other does not regain the Hit Points and PSPs automatically, but may regain them thru normal rest or magical aid. If the duplicate dies, a System Shock roll must be made to avoid unconsciousness for 2d6 turns. If the original dies, the duplicate simply fades away. The items duplicated by this power are only reasonable facsimiles, bearing no magical or exceptional properties. Duplicated items fade away when the power is ended.
Cellular Fission plus Split Personality equals 2 psionicists :) |
